Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, I am an out of network provider. I am happy to provide you with a statement of paid services, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many clients are successful in receiving reimbursement in this way, though it is usually not for 100% of the fee.

  • Unfortunately, most insurance companies don’t believe treatment for relationship problems should be covered the way that medical or psychiatric care are covered. The current system requires your therapist to give you a mental health diagnosis for your insurance company to cover the cost of your therapy. Such a diagnosis would then become a part of your permanent record with that insurance company, and may follow you for the rest of your life and create difficulties in receiving future care or coverage.

    Billing an insurance company also requires your therapist to provide details about our work together to an employee or group of employees at the insurance company, who would then have a role in making decisions about your case (e.g., advising what kind of treatment we should provide, how long you should be allowed to come for therapy, etc.). Decisions about our work together should be made by you with you having sole control of your care.

  • The first initial session is a required 90-minute session in order to administer a full diagnostic evaluation. After the initial session, your clinician will make a recommendation for treatment pace and length.

    The fee for a 90-minute session is $255.00 and the fee for a 50-minute session is $170.00

  • Our goal is to empower clients to make the changes necessary to sustain the life they want. We do not believe that therapy should last forever because you need to be given the space and time to take ownership of the life you manifested. Once initial goals are met, therapy can be utilized as a resource for any future challenges that need the facilitation of a professional.

    The time that therapy should last is dependent on the individual’s way of processing and application of skills and tools. That said, given the high demand for services, I ask all clients to commit to therapy at a regimented pace (whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly or monthly) for a minimum of 4-6 sessions. After the initial sessions, we update the treatment plan to make adjustments to goals and pace of therapy.

  • Payments are due upon receipt of services. During the intake process, the HIPPA compliant EHR system we utilize will prompt you to save your credit card on file and you will be charged in full by the end of the day. If you do not prefer to pay by card, we also accept cash and can provide you an invoice receipt for services.

  • For in person services: We require a 48 hour cancellation notice.

    For virtual services: We require a 24 hour cancelation notice

    If you cancel within less notice than the window your session will be charged in full.

  • People seek therapy for various reasons. You do not need to be mentally ill to benefit from therapy. Some people just need an objective and non-judgmental person to talk to. If you would like to see if you are a candidate for a specific type of therapy, please read about our services.

  • Therapy is a financial and emotional investment. You should feel comfortable with the clinician you are working with and there are many clinical personalities to choose from.

    Because I know how daunting it can be to “choose the right therapist” all potential clients are given a free 15-minute complimentary consultation call. This call allows us the opportunity to see if we would be a good fit for one another before committing to sessions.

  • The first initial session (for couples and family therapy) is a required 90-minute session in order to administer a full diagnostic evaluation. After the initial session, I will make the recommendation to what session length and pace I feel would best meet your needs. This is with the understanding that although I can make the recommendation, session length is up to you and you don’t have to have the same session length each week.

  • I am a military spouse but my private practice operates as part of the civilian sector. Meaning, the mandate to report follows state laws and not the UCMJ. The only circumstance in which I will have to make a report is in the case of child abuse/neglect, elderly abuse, if my client presents a danger to themselves or others, or if I were served a subpoena by a judge.
